At Central Highlands Water we’re committed to providing the highest quality water to our customers.
To ensure the quality remains high, our team of water quality experts, backed by a National Association of Testing (NATA) accredited laboratory continually monitor the water we supply throughout our service area.
Strict government regulation and close scrutiny of our water quality management systems ensures we meet water quality criteria, carry out regular sampling and have a risk management plan in place to minimise potential hazards to the supply.
In line with the Safe Drinking Water Act (2003) and the Safe Drinking Water Regulations (2015), Central Highlands Water reports the results of its water quality compliance monitoring on a regular basis to the public and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.
Monitoring and Testing
Central Highlands Water conducts over 50,000 water quality tests at various sampling localities each year throughout the region.
Water is tested for microbiological, physical, chemical and radiological parameters at the source, at treatment facilities, at water storages throughout the distribution system and at specified customer taps.
How often we sample your water is guided by the National Health and Medical Research Council’s Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. They define the sampling criteria including how and where these samples are collected to make sure they are representative of the water we supply to our customers.
In order to verify the high quality of the water supply we arrange day-to-day sampling and testing by our National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accredited laboratory.
