Freedom of information (FoI) requests
Access to documents held by Central Highlands Water can be provided to you in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
How to access Central Highlands Water documents under FOI
You can request access to documents held by CHW by writing to the FOI Officer and including payment of the application fee. Please see link to our FOI Application Form which you may use to submit your request.

Please provide enough details for us to find the appropriate documents. If possible, avoid phrases like “all documents about” a topic. If your request is not clear, we will ask for clarification which may delay your request.
How we respond
Your request will be dealt with in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic). This means that you may either be granted access to documents in full, in part, or access may be denied in some cases. Access to documents will only be denied or provided in part, if the documents you have requested are exempt from release under the Act.
If we decide to enforce an exemption under the Act, we will provide you with our reasons for making this decision and also advise of your rights to appeal.
We will communicate this decision to you no later than 30 days after your request is received or clarified as required by the Act.
How to appeal
If you are not satisfied with our handling of your request, you may appeal to the FOI Commissioner.
Fees and charges
There is a non-refundable $29.62 application fee for all FOI requests in Victoria. This Payment methods are outlined on the application form. If payment would cause you hardship you can ask for it to be waived and will be required to provide evidence of hardship.
Further charges may be payable for time spent searching for documents and photocopying. You will be advised if these charges are going to exceed $50.00 and asked for a deposit if you want us to continue to process your request.
Under the FOI Act, we are required to publish an information statement on our operations.
This statement provides information on what we do, the kinds of documents we hold, and how a person can request access.
